Cape Cod Additions

With a dwindling supply of buildable land on Cape Cod, and a thriving real estate market that can lead to homes selling within days of becoming available, finding your new dream home can be a nightmare. If this has been your experience, you may want to consider building an addition to your existing home.

Cape Cod Home Additions

It isn’t just the real estate market that can make an addition a more practical solution than moving. Perhaps you love your neighborhood and its schools, or your children are grown and now visit with their own families and you need more space. Or you may be contemplating moving to your summer home year-round following retirement, and considering future aging-in-place needs such as first-floor master suite.

Another consideration in building a home addition, rather than moving, is cost. In many cases, it can be less expensive to build an addition that fulfills your needs than it is to buy a new, larger home, one that equals the space of your existing house plus an addition. Add in closing costs and the disruption of moving, and an addition may well be the better option for you and your family.

Expanding a home is a complicated endeavor that requires a careful balance of form and function. With two decades of experiencing in building Cape Cod home additions, Ryan Construction is adept at striking that balance.

We begin the process by thoroughly reviewing your needs, both now and in the future. We listen to your ideas, offer suggestions to save you time, money and frustration, then conceive a plan that fulfills your wishes and blends seamlessly with your existing home, both inside and out.

During the design phase, we will also address any zoning issues, ensuring that the new space adheres to setback requirements and, if applicable, historic commission guidelines. If zoning regulations prohibit expanding the footprint of your home, we’ll look for opportunities to build up rather than out, perhaps by adding a second story or dormer, or utilizing space over an existing garage.

Once you have approved your Cape Cod house addition plans, the construction phase begins. From the moment the foundation is poured until the very last finishing touches are completed, the team at Ryan Construction is on site every day, attending to each facet of the project and making sure your questions are answered in a timely fashion.

Ryan Construction built us a new set of front steps to our exact specifications and they came in under budget. They also put a new granite tile face over our brick fireplace then built a gorgeous mantle for it. We are very pleased and will definitely hire them again.
